Biography
Background
Dr Malhotra was born and raised in Liverpool. He is a season ticket holder at Anfield, practises ju-jitsu and enjoys travelling with his family.
Medical Training
Dr Malhotra graduated from medical school with honours, and completed his specialty training in Liverpool and Bristol. After a year-long fellowship in pain medicine, he became a Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine (UK) and was awarded the prestigious prize for his pain medicine examinations.
Pain Medicine Expertise
Dr Malhotra provides pain medicine services to nearly 1000 patients per year. He has great experience in remote or virtual consultations, maintaining his 5 star patient rating.
Dr Malhotra performs both in person and remote consultations, as well as interventional procedures. His practice is based across the North West of England and includes NHS and private work. His interests include degenerative spinal pain, nerve pain, joint arthritis and fibromyalgia. Dr Malhotra performs a range of injections for pain management, including epidural injections. He has extensive experience in a procedure called radiofrequency ablation - 'burning of the nerves'. This procedure can be performed for joint arthritis and spinal degeneration, often with up to 12 months worth of pain relief.
As a medico-legal expert in pain medicine, Dr Malhotra often consults on clinical negligence cases and provides evidence to the court.
Achievements
Dr Malhotra was awarded the position of Regional Adviser in Pain Medicine (Mersey), providing leadership and education to all pain medicine trainees in his region. He is a regular member of the interviewing committee for new Consultants in Pain Medicine in the NHS.
Dr Malhotra has published widely in the medical literature, and is a regular invited speaker at national conferences. He is the research lead for the Vascular Anaesthetic Society and sits on the British Pain Society's Pain Education group.
